Welcome back!

Welcome back!

Welcome back friends and family.

After three years of silence, StoriesOfNick is back. In these three years, nothing much has changed. I am still traveling all over the world; still visiting new places and learning about different cultures. I have never stopped writing travel stories (in my personal journal) but they always ended up in my personal journal and not on this website… until today.

The reason I am bringing this website back to live is because I am about to start an exciting new journey. In fact, it will be a whole new chapter in life. For an undefined time, I will travel to Bali and spend more free time submerging in this beautiful culture; tropical island; great people and delicious food. To keep my friends and family up to date with all my upcoming adventures, in Bali but also other places all over the world, I thought it would be a good idea to bring this digital storybook back to life. It took some pain and effort to get it up and running, but here we are again; back online. Unfortunately, all my previous stories have been wiped cleaned so I am starting with a clean slate.

Mt. Agung – Bali

The decision of moving to Bali is long overdue but I am focused on the future, not the past. I have no regrets in life and I am happy with who I am, where I am and where I am about to go next. And I know… I am not original for going to Bali, many people have done it before me, but I have my reasons. I am ready to go!

  • House sold – Check
  • Impersonal items sold – Check
  • Ticket booked – Check, flying on Sunday the fifth of February.
  • Visa – Check
  • Covid free – Check (I think)
  • Bags packed – NOPE, that will probably be done 1 day before departure.

Am I nervous? Not really. After living 9 months in China and, several years later, backpacking through New Zealand and Southeast Asia for more than 20 months, it gets easier to book one-way tickets. I have learned that nothing is definite and planning everything in detail is futile.

I would like to thank my dear friends and family for supporting me in my upcoming journey with an undefined time. This is not easy on both sides but I do feel that I have to do this. Thank God for modern technology to make it a lot easier to stay in touch. I will miss everybody back home but this is not a farewell. We will see where the wind will carry me in the future.

My new office in Bali! 🤣

Although I am not leaving my current employer (just working remote and on different sites), my team members were very kind to give me nice gifts; two books. I am an avid reader and one can never have too many books. One of these books has a beautiful and inspirational quote on the back. One that we probably all know; Do we live to work, or do we work to live?

I find this a very relevant question, especially related to the content of this page. I sure do know the answer to that question; I work to live! I want to enjoy life to the fullest.My new adventure and stories will be proof of this.

So join me on my trip by subscribing to this website and you will get an automatic update when I post a new story.

Living life to the fullest

See you later!

  1. Live by the sun and love by the moon 🌙

    Ga de “qtime” missen en het makkelijke contacten, maar wij vinden onze weg wel. Onze vriendschap heeft vele dingen doorstaan.
    You can do this.

    Xx

  2. Ik vond een mooi gedicht wat ik wel iets voor jou vond:

    travel:
    to move from one place to another;
    seeking places to discover
    a journey to a distant or unfamiliar place;
    a slow and steady pace
    can be done by car, train, plane or ship;
    a one way or round trip
    to uncover cultures and open mind;
    to grow and yourself find
    makes you pine for places never known;
    makes you not want to go home

    Maar gelukkig kom je nog wel een keer naar huis

    Je moederke
